1. The speaker is old however it is talking about how their lover thinks that they are oblivious and inexperienced as a teenager
2. The speaker is talking of his wife's flattery if you read this line straight up it seems as though he is oblivious. It is to be resolved with both beliving their flattery believing her flattery. They are both lying.
3.  With the first simple it could be a giving up meaning easily or petty simply and the other is almost the same except in a more positive light means pure.
4.Yes and no because although he knows she lies he does as well so they live happily ever after.
